He no-showed a match with Tanahashi. Inoki had started that other company and got Brock to come and Inoki claimed the IWGP was now part of this IGF lineage but Brock still refused to job to Japs so they got Angle to come over. Kurt became IWGP champ but New Japan had stripped Brock and made Nakamura NJPW champ in the interim. Then Nak beat Angle to reunify it. Shit was wild.
