When you think about it, Rock and Austin clearly wanted to put him over at the time. Jericho's turn doesn't make any fucking sense considering the pops he was getting at the time and that he was basically matching Rock. Then, they do that weird turn, he beats Rock, still gets cheered, and then turn him again.

Angle was a face, turned heel, turned face, back heel, in the same time.

I think HHH fucked with a lot of the booking by then because Austin and Rock put those two over, and HHH quickly buried both of them as soon as he came back.

Shit, when you really think about it, Austin probably should've just had the belt and lost to HHH at X8 if the plan was always for HHH to win.

Supposedly he was but Vince decided that Jericho "deserved" a title run instead because of how over he was. Though I wouldn't at all be surprised if Paul lobbied for it so he could bury Jericho (who he never liked) when he came back.

Nah, Jericho was the right choice, and Austin, Rock, and Angle all went to bat for him - mostly because all three of them genuinely liked Jericho and all knew they could draw money with him. Sadly, Stephaine, Paul, and Vince torpedoed this - something which I believe might have been the start of Austin and Rock's dissatisfaction with the company.

Not if Kurt was booked the way Jericho was. No one would have survived that booking - not even Hogan, Austin, or Rock. The fact that Jericho was able to reinvent himself after that burial (and it was a burial) is a testament to how good he is.

Fully Loaded is Rock vs Jericho vs HHH for the championship with The Rock winning, Summerslam is now Angle vs Triple H, Jericho vs Benoit, Rock vs Guerrero, Undertaker vs Kane
Rock loses his championship to Kurt Angle at Survivor Series in the 6 man hell in a cell match, Angle keeps it until Wrestlemania where he loses it in a triple threat involving Steve Austin and the Rock, so neither man has to turn heel, Austin can be champion again and Angle can get a rub by headlining whilst also eating the pin

That would have worked out well for everyone involved
