I'm with you for most of these aside from FTR. I hate Bald as much as anybody, and Cash could be even bigger trouble, but they're still some of the best workers in the company, and unlike many 'E-jects, they're actually willing to do as they're told.

Danhausen could have a good niche in the company, but seeing as how Tony's not really interested in that niche, there's really no point in keeping him. He really would be a better fit for WWE.

That said, I think the only ones who might actually get cut would be the Hardys. They're easily Tony's least-justified investment. And this is a man who invested in Joey Janela.

I was at an RoH taping when I went to see Collision, and it was brutal. I much rather would've been at an indy show at a rec center. Even an actual OVW taping might've been preferable.

A sensible person won't just cut touring, they don't do House shows anyways, why travel alll over the country. Just rent a soundstage and fill it up with plants or at the least rent small arenas they can actually fill.

Correct. WBD has exclusivity on all AEW properties on their air. They agreed in December to extend the AEW deal thru the end of 2024. Meaning that if WBD does not let AEW out of that exclusivity window, AEW would have a week to find a new TV home if WBD doesn't give them a new extension.

If that happens, AEW tv shows would probably land on YouTube, Twitch, or something similar for however long it might take to find a new TV partner.

This is literally the only way to refresh the stale image of the company, fire all this dead, worn out faces, too many times tried shitters and try to build on what you have and with new faces to follow. Later on you can call back to any of these listed to come back for a run if they got a clue or two on how to be a wrestler and maybe they'd get a few pops for returning but God knows a lot of them won't ever get past the first criteria.

The real story there is WBD waited until the eleventh hour to extend AEW. As of 30 November 2023 they had still not picked up the option year.

Somehow this flew completely under the /pw/ radar - Dynamite literally almost getting canceled - which goes to show you how much content here is paid shilling from WWE or AEW employees. The former said nothing because WBD was in the running for the RAW rights, the latter silent for obvious reasons.

Really the toys isn't the worst issue, especially with the older ones like Sting and Cope close to retirement and some like Kenny and Bryan could probably be knocked down a bit in pay when they won't be able to wrestle full time anymore. The giant arenas AEW can't even halfway fill is the bigger issue both in costs and in that having a full small stadium would look better on tv than a large empty one.

In September, we have mention of the Observer saying the Deal ends 12/31/24 but the link to the Observer is paywalled, and the way this is worded suggests that 411 Mania might have confused the extension with the broader renegotiation talks.

What we do know is that AEW is committed to WBD (and vice-versa) until December 31, 2024, and that AEW can't negotiate with other networks during that time.

Damn, that is a really bad sign. In football, you pick up the option and then typically begin negotiations and have a new deal soon after. The fact that they are dragging even for the option and were negotiating with WWE and not even AEW during that time is a really bad look to any one who understands how option years in contracts work

My understanding from reading on this today is that there is no "window" for the AEW rights. I would imagine discussions are ongoing and/or could take place anytime.
I can't imagine a world where WBD makes the decision to pass on a new AEW rights deal AND holds them to the exclusivity stipulation. That would effectively kill off AEW, as they'd only have a handful of days to negotiate a deal for a new home. I imagine WBD would do them the courtesy of a "yes" or "no" at least a few months in advance, especially if what they say about AEW being a good partner is even remotely true.
