there's some good stuff if you're not a mark who thinks layne wrote everything back then and you understand that jerry cantrell was always like 50% of what made the band good including vocals. black gives way into blue and devil put dinosaurs here both have some good-to-great tracks, rainier fog is kind of meh. all three of them are better than tripod though i fucking hate that album

Yes. Jerry was always the engine of the band. It's not AS good without Layne's vocals but its still pretty damn great. The new lead singer is so similar to Layne that I'd say most people wouldn't even be able to tell a difference anyways.

Best measured by which metric? Because for your own enjoyment, how can that be disproven? In that regard, my favorite band here would be the Melvins. But for sales and money made, I believe Pearl Jam are the Kings of Grunge even if Kurt is the martyr.

I believe the same, though given time I think Nirvana would have surpassed them. Soundgarden was great but they just didn't scratch that itch that AiC did. Pearl Jam shit the bed after Ten so whatever.
