He knew Nick Khan would carny himself into the top position within the company and sell the WWE to his dirty friends in Hollywood. Nick Khan himself is dirty too, of course.
AEW has been in a holding pattern and the critique from fans is driving Tony Khan mad.
Truth is though, that all those AEW guys and girls who came from the WWE are clean and kosher as fuck.
The kind of wrestler who doesn't diddle kids for a title shot, and doesn't traffick cocaine from the border in exchange for main events.
These are wrestlers who are a mark for the business, rather than wrestlers who are marks for themselves.
They're not just there to train new talent and help put them over. They're there to be distanced from the shitshow that just got ignited.
And maybe, just maybe, AEW will survive the fallout.
This would explain why it's sports entertainment more than anything Tony Khan promised it would be instead.
