I had stopped watching wrestling during Danielson's entire WWE run. I remember flipping the channel past RAW or Smackdown and seeing this guy with the title and thinking "how is this guy champion?" I still don't get his appeal.

Daniel Bryan is easily top 3 best technical wrestlers ever, but that's about it, he was super over, and had good runs and matches at the top, but he is sadly no Cena, he moved merch and people really liked him, but ratings collapsed during his period and they have never recovered since. So business wise, you have to agree he was kinda bad for business.

The actual problem was the 2015 rumble itself, not even Mania 31 which ended well with the cash-in

The gimmick wasn't bad but Danielson wasn't particularly good. You need a good wrestler to make good gimmicks timeless, this shit had a very limited shelf life as a result of who they chose to portray it.

They ended up throwing some vegan gimmick on him which again had a short shelf life despite the gimmick itself being pretty good.

evolution killed the ratings in 2002-05 and raw only recovered slightly in 2006 after cena moved to RAW and batista moved to the b-show
