Here’s the thing, he was injured. But he’s old school and did what all old school wrestlers did and boozed and pillpopped his way through the pain.
Once you stop your schedule, that’s when the accumulated injuries take their toll. Punk had a close to 10 year break and his body can’t handle it

Punk’s athletic background as a kid was probably riding his bike, running around Lockport and maybe a McDojo in his early teens. Aside from that it’s all professional wrestling which is so intense without consistent commitment over so many years you would struggle to maintain ring shape. Ric Flair’s childhood by contrast was probably competitive school sports since a young child all the way up until college and then straight after he just wrestled for a million years. Naitch was never going to get injured
