HHH's heel run in '99 is hilariously edgy in a bad way and they tried everything to get people to care because they wanted to move on from Vince. I think Stephanie's heel turn and the Foley feud were the two things that finally made it click, because he was basically going nowhere with the belt for a while.
The Street Fight probably did more for his career than this match, even though this is the one that retired Foley. From that point on, he didn't feel like a midcarder when compared to Rock or Austin (who was out)
