It's definitely not a work. Jim's a fag and will cave to any pressure put on by his own audience for whatever reason. I'm guessing since him and Brian actually interact with these people through emails and share their gay ass sob stories, Jim is afraid they're not going to like him anymore since those are the only people left who actually respect and worship him, while most of the rest of hte industry has left him behind, for better or for worse.
