Because it serves no purpose but to complicate the booking, create plotholes, and make guys look like jobbers, especially to less hardcore fans.

Maybe somebody could make a pro-wrestling ranking system work, but that man is not Tony Khan. It failed last time, and will fail all the harder the second time around. Much like VKM's attempt to salvage his professional career.

I imagine number 1 gets any title they want, number 2 gets any number 1 doesn't go for and so on. Presumably with the guys below being able to fight for contendership so 1 and 2 can match for number 1 contender to the remaining titles.

Wardlow, Jericho and Takesh ita are all unranked at 2-0.

It's not clear how ROH works with this. Bullet Club Gold are the trios champs (at 1-0) and are #1 ranked trios contenders while Taven/Bennett aren't. Eddie is the ROH champ and gets on the champions list because he has the AEW Continental Crown.

It's not clear yet how various secondary titles affect the rankings. One would assume OC, Eddie, Julia and Christian want the World Title, but I don't know what their path really is except challenging Joe.

The first set of rankings are always the easiest as assuredly everyone starts off with clean sheets. But this is obviously going to get more and more complicated as things move along.

Rankings in a scripted sport only work if the booking is intelligent enough to reflect that. AEW is not good enough to do that booking
