AEW is the only company who can take Okada and do the lights off-lights on gimmick with no notice or build, good for them. But if WWE advertises that Okada signed, then he randomly debuts 2 1/2 weeks later after fans have had time to do their homework, they'll come unglued.
We have never seen this much balkanization of the entertainment landscape, but that also means specialization. You don't get 10,000 at a live TV show and 9,500 are just tourists and casuals who need something to do. AEW has a higher percentage of SMARKS in all-caps in the crowd, but that's done them more harm than good. Even if a WWE crowd is only 30% SMARKS, 3000 people screaming is still more than 2200, especially when they're running the same exact arenas.
