>>13242942>Smarks are deranged if they think Cody would put more butts into seats than the fucking Rock. Here's what I find interesting:
We all know that some wrestlers draw larger crowd attendance and more views than others
And yes, while Cody is popular among current WWE fans, he's not as famous or legendary as Dwayne, therefore Dwayne is the bigger draw
Here's where I get confused: I've heard people say that WWE no longer focuses on building up wrestlers that are a draw, because the WWE brand itself is supposed to be the draw now. Given their booking decisions in recent years, I believe this is the case
But I feel like this will eventually create a problem for them. How can they say that they want the brand to be the draw, when they still go running back to older established draws for their biggest show's main event?
This method of "our brand is the draw...but let's still try to push our past legends for our biggest main event matches" has a shelf life. Those past draws will eventually get too old and/or injured to be involved in Wrestlemania main event matches
Some of Undertaker's last matches included a Cena squash and a pre-taped cinematic match
People were actually hoping to see Hogan come out during the Rumble, eliminate someone, then leave the match on his own so his old body wouldn't have to take a bump
And now we have people pointing out that Dwayne gets gassed within minutes, meaning a long main-event singles match with him is unlikely
Yes, these men still put the most asses in seats and draw the biggest pops over those in the curent roster. But eventually they'll get too old to wrestle and trot out for a Wrestlemania main event
Because of this, eventually WWE will be forced to book main events that involve only their top wrestlers who aren't as big of a draw, partly due to how they were previously booked under the "our brand is the draw" mantra. And then what happens?
