So here's the thing.
Let's assume this entire thing is a work, that it's just the one of the iggest publicity stunts in media JUST to get eyes away from the Vince allegations, and Cody is still gonna go to Roman.
How in the FUCK is that supposed to help the company?
Anyone who's in the know already knew Vince was skeevy as shit. No amount of fluffing from stars like Taker or Austin or whoever will say like "goddamn pal, he's the hardest worker, so smart, so considerate of us, bit of an asshole but you can't help to like him" will EVER change your opinion on him once you already know what he's really like. So what the fuck is WWE panicking for? Sponsors? Just fucking tell them he's off the board, out the company. There's nothing the fans can do so that same reassurance can go there. It's just so bizarre to use your story, your lifeline of money, just to avert eyes.
Now under that same working theory, why the fuck would Cody even THINK about giving to the Rock? The ROCK? Of ALL people? He's barely fucking related to Roman, I don't think they ever fought or crossed paths until the end of last fucking year. Even as horribly comedic and just as controversial it would be, him handing it to fucking Cena would make more sense, because Cena has had more ring action in the past year and showed his skills. It makes no sense as to why Cody would pick Rock.
As for him backing out, the only plausible thing they can do that would be even slightly acceptable is something along the lines of Cody having a panic attack after having a dream with Dusty, about how he might fail again, let Dusty down again, disgrace his lineage and his honor and whatever. That's the only thing that makes sense. If someone else has a better idea, throw it at me, because I'm just as lost at the others.
And needless to say, if it isn't a work, it is genuinely one of the worst writing decisions I've ever seen in media, and could potentially damn WWE and bring them on a decline. Just... what the fuck.
