There's still two months of build left. I'm pretty convinced this is a swerve and they're doing Rock vs Roman Night 1 and Cody vs the winner on Night 2. All of the wrestlers tweeting #WeWantCody was the dead giveaway this is a storyline. Under contract talent wouldn't be opening criticizing a storyline like that if there wasn't some work involved.

Everyone's entitled to their opinions but hard disagree on this. They did away with it around 2012 or so for a handful of years and everything went to complete dogshit. SmackDown became completely meaningless to watch and if you did it was just 40% recaps from Raw. A good portion of the roster stopped getting utilized. It wasn't good at all. So much so that they brought back a hard defined draft and brand split in 2016. Led to the most based SmackDown era to date too

But I don't even like Cody and this has made me feel pretty bad for the guy. Not so much that he isn't getting the match but more so how they had him go out and just be like 'actually nah' after his entire existence has revolved around going after Roman for the last year. Completely destroys the guy's character. Even if my some tiny little chance it's some nonsensical work there is no walking that part back

This is true. But they didn't. They just featured the guys they wanted to and then they featured those same guys again. Or they just replayed everything they did on Raw. I'd rather two shows that are 'less watchable' than have one that's completely unwatchable, which is exactly what Smackdown became the last time they did away with it
