What like The Rock was totally original? Every good promo is just copying what they grew up watching. The bigger wrestling sin is to just copy someone's attire or look like a CAW which LA Knight definitely doesn't do.

LA Knight is REALLY old though. He LOOKS old as well. He is ~15 years too late to make it longer-term as a memorable Superstar.

Austin was only at the top for like 5 years faggot. And the Rock too didn't last much longer than that.

the problem is that the rock and Austin are still around, while when ric flair was ripping off Buddy Rogers, Rogers was basically done with wrestling.

I understand the comparison. But to be fair to him it wasn't just Rock and Austin who talked like that. There were a bunch of top guys and even some midcarders who cut that same type of high energy, quippy, fast-talking promo back in the 80s and 90s. It's largely fallen out of fashion now and nearly everyone just comes out and talks in their natural cadence. Knight just sticks out cause he's one of the only people still doing it, doesn't make him a copycat.

This. Even though the same amount of time has roughly passed, It's different, because they're still current in smark and mark consciousness. WWE have been constantly referencing and bringing back Austin and the Rock for the last 23 years. They never did that for Buddy Rogers and Freddie Blassie back in the day. Plus they're both all over the mainstream media (Rock) and the IWC (Austin), so it's impossible to ever forget them for long enough that a homage/inspired wrestler would be seen as fresh as it could be.

Rock waa given his character, promo and moveset by Patterson and Cornette. His promo and giving people nicknames is Cornette, which he got off Lawler, tilting his head and looking over his glasses is Cornette, People's elbow and taking off elbowpad was a Cornette move, etc. Almost every promo Rock ever did was scripted for him.
Hogan's character was a copy.
Sting was a movie character more than once.
Road Warriors self-explanatory.
Heyman copy of Cornette, Brain, etc.
