I can't speak for FOX but ESPN is in the fucking toilet and legitimately needs to do this or go out of business and WBD is still finding a way to dig itself out of their own holes. I'm guessing this what they have to do knowing that NBA rights renewals are coming up and if they don't want to lose their shit to Amazon.
Means more to UFC and AEW, not sure what to make of the WWE side since they've locked their shit in (though I'm not entirely sure what's happening to PPV's after the Peacock deal is up).

there are millions of websites already that offer exactly this if you want to watch sports. even if you can't find one for whatever reason, there are countless streamers who do live commentary on games. it's like listening to radio broadcasts of sports. these companies have no idea how antiquated they are and they only make money off of ignorant consumers with disposable income to blow.

Crazy Days and Nights said that Bezos is going to offer a blank check to the NBA to finally kill the networks. He helped to facilitate the WWE/Netflix deal because he wants to buy Netflix for pennies on the dollar eventually. WWE is going to help with their decline.

This is basically a package of just the sports channels, which is the only reason people still pay for cable anyway. It'll have the ESPN channels, the Fox Sports channels, and all the sports that air on TNT and TBS. If you're a sports fan, this will help you to finally cut the chord, and it'll be cheaper than your cable package. This is a good thing for consumers.

USA Network is in a different spot because it's owned by Comcast, and I know they'd like people to keep paying for cable, but at the same time they know cable is dying and they can only delay the inevitable. Hopefully if this new company causes cord cutting to increase even more, they'll just have Smackdown air live on Peacock as well as USA.

I know they want those fees, but they're already doing it with other sports. Indycar races air on NBC and USA, but they also all air on Peacock at the same time. So they've started doing it, and eventually they'll have to start doing it for SmackDown too as cable subscriptions keep dwindling. I think once this new product from the other companies launches, that's going to cause a ton more cord cutting. I think it's inevitable, but like I said, Comcast will probably hold out as long as they can.

It's a cable alternative. Sports are the only reason most people are still paying for cable, and a basic package can run you $100 once you add in fees and the cable box rental. $30 for just the sports channels is a good deal for a lot of people.

It's one thing to convince a cord-cutter to spend $10/mo to follow their favorite TV show to streaming service - it's another to expect $30-40/mo for sports alone when that same person can just pay $40-50 to keep sports plus 300 other channels.

This is also terrible news for AEW because it means keeping them in limbo while they figure out how many people will sign up for this thing. They can't price it this high without anticipating massive loses - and the last thing they'd want to do is lock in AEW for 5+ years at a billion dollars.
