Inoki on the other hand claimed that he always knew that it was a shoot contest and that Ali was the one who agreed to a work match who latter became worried when he learnt that inoki was planning on shooting on him.
The both inoki's and Ali's teams went on full damage control negotiating change after change in the match rules until we got the meme fight we all know.
