He was probably trying to make TNA competitive, and Anthem was having none of that. I hear was either trying to expand the budget or but the company himself.

This seems to be what most are pointing to. He got interest up but signing the likes of Ziggler is probably spending more money than Anthem want to. They just want cheap, easy programming, that's why they pulled TNA out of its certain grave in the first place.
