kek nobody fucking cares about gayew. The more likely explanation is that gayew has shit booking. When Cawdy was at gayew, it actually felt big league. Cawdy & his wife even had their own tv shows. After they left gayew was treated as just this that exists, but when the Rhodes were around the channel that gayew was on used to actually try to promote it.

AEW was a glorified indie with little exposure compared to E. It is like wondering why Eminem wasn't a big rap star under Bassmint Records, but then he gets huge under Interscope. AEW is basically the WCW of wrestling today, it has all of the stars, it's has the most politics and smarkiest fans. So it's the hardest company to succeed and get over in, WWE is basically controlled entirely by propaganda and cult fans that eat up whatever shit they are fed. Guys like Bret Hart were really over in WWE but flopped horribly in WCW for example. Most WWE stars wouldn't get over at all in AEW
