In WWE, through their presentation, package and micromanagement, they can tweak some of his worst impulses. (And they didn't sign his wife, thank god). He was never going to be a good fit in AEW especially with his refusal to turn and the weird Codyverse thing that would eat up so much time for a real pointless segment or him fighting literal whos.
I don't think they hate him, but I don't blame them for not cheering for him. If he pulled that shit in WWE he would've been booed there as well.
