AEW has more guaranteed money and pays travel and lodging but they don't pay royalties. WWE doesn't give much upfront or cover any of your travel expenses but you can make substantially more money (albeit with working more) with royalties, house show loops, publicity appearances, commercial tapings, and more. Sami Zayn was making over $100,000/yr as El Generico and agreed to make $36k/yr in NXT but his gate bonuses from main roster house show loops made him 5 times what he made selling shirts on PWT. It's like SNL, there are limited spots and it's highly competitive but you can get set for life with the right push.
