It was a dimes gimmick that could only work in the Attitude Era.

Val was a good worker though. He just got essentially typecast as a porn star, and so after he ran the right-to-censor version of the gimmick, he had nowhere else to go short of complete character reinvention.

they tried moving him up the card with feuds against mankind and Dwayne but he hit his ceiling so hard that he bounced back down the card. It was just clear he didn’t belong at that level. Although I never understood why they took away his porn star gimmick right when they gave him Trish as a manager. Seems like a getting paired with a blonde bimbo as over as Trish was would have given his character second wind. Maybe they just didn’t want to latch Trish to that shitter long term.
