Eh. A lot of the "midcarders were over!" thing is a myth desu. When you actually watch the shows, these guys got huge entrance pops but that's it.

I appreciate that Russo tried to give everyone something to do, but it doesn't always work that well and you can see it failing more times than it actually succeeds. There's a reason people mainly talk about the highlights (Rock, Austin, Vince, Mankind...) than the random midcard. At the end of the day the main reason that you cannot recreate that era is because you don't have two once in a lifetime athletes like Rock and Austin, and even if ONE of them managed to make it WWE would cripple it because they put the brand above the talent.

The ministry was an easy way to book a load of midcarders into some kind of relevance.

The mild pops that Blackman got and Dan Severn I always put down to quiet respect. Fans knew they wouldn't get crazy shit in their matches, but knew they were legit and often the matches were technically interesting.
