You don't ever hear shit about the Amarillo Territory unless it is a specific story about Terry or Dory Jr. and even then it is usually told by Terry himself. The places that you hear a lot of stories out of either had a pretty strong media presence, a strong fan presence in the form of mailing lists, or guys like Corny that just autistically cataloged every show they were at.

Mormons today are a LOT different than they ised to be. Some time in the 70s or 80s they had some kind of massive internal shift. They started getting involved in investing, pushing their kids into goverment beaurocracy, and generally being a lot less insular and secrative.

The Owens' were known for fair pay, good working conditions, safe matches, and not tolerating outside talent bringing their problems into the territory. You weren't going to get a crazy payday there, but you could earn reliably enough to have a reasonable lifestyle for raising a family. The reptation for safe reliable workers that don't cause problems meant that if you needed a payday there was always a demand for PNW guys to work as jobbers all over.

I've heard there is a Mormon conspiracy to gradually take over the federal government by similar means and establish a theocracy. I know they supoosedly make good federal agents due to their conservative/modest lifestyles.
