He thought Cody was being pushed to the side so he started to talk to AEW again, (un)fortunately for him the conversation went pretty quickly and he was back in before it was confirmed that Cody will finish the story. After Cody finishes the story he'll have a lot more pull in the company and he would've been able to use that to get QT hired
