All of this. Youve got to keep in mind too that Rock originally wanted to be and was booked as the face going into the feud with Roman. If anything, awkwardly trying to fit Dwayne in has led to the problems with the booking/creative. He should’ve been involved more sooner than RR.

For me, I’d have booked Gunther to win RR to challenge Seth at WM. Cody could’ve had another shot at EC.

The ONLY reason people accepted it last year is because there was some sect of like 1% of the IWC trannies screaming about the lack of "adversity" Cody faced (one supposes wrestling with his pec torn off doesn't count), and so took this as a reason for him to fall and climb back up last year. What happened with Jey and the face off they had was clearly building towards this. Cody getting put over by Brock hard and rocketing towards this. It could not have gone any other way

I doubt he even watches wrestling let alone keep up with creative or whatever direction the company were going into at WM. That he originally headed into this thinking he could be the face tells you how connected he is to the fanbase.
I will however acknowledge and credit him for being willing to change things upon seeing the backlash. He had to have realised it would’ve been perceived a dick move and making the pivot to heel was the right thing to do
