>>13461129Bob was a skilled worker who could do the basics very well, had a generic wrestler look (for his day; his physique would impress today) and he did have a few impressive power moves. But he never had enough personality to go farther than tag team or midcard champ. In fact, Bob got outperformed by Crash Holly, a much smaller comedy wrestler. Crash was not as good of a worker, and he was too small to succeed in his day, but he had tons more personality than Bob. Bob got a lot more chances than he ever deserved, and even got a short push in a feud with Brock Lesnar. The crowd wasn't buying it though.
I think Bob's attitude problem was due to having smoke blown up his ass early on by Jim Cornette, Jim Ross, and probably some others. Cornette even put Bob in the New Midnight Express, which is funny to consider given the lack of personality for either member. Bob probably thought he deserved to be a top guy, but never broke through. Meanwhile, Crash was dimes but he was held back by his size despite the crowd loving him, similar to Spike Dudley.
