I think it could work with a few tweaks.
>1) Actually use some of Nick’s ideas. Eugene should be a savant. He knows all about wrestling’s history, and can effortlessly rattle off facts about every major moment that has taken place. Attendance, title changes, finishes, etcetera.
>2) He’s funny, but not because he’s dumb. But because he’s earnest. There’s nothing even remotely cynical about him. And he doesn’t understand when people are being condescending to him. He sees everything at the surface level and always sees the best in people. Nick actually did capture that well at times during his initial run.
>3) Actually make him formidable. They started to do this at first in his initial run before making him a full-blown jobber. Put him in some banger matches and have him go over. He is a savant. He naturally understands wrestling the way Beethoven understood music. He isn’t just repeating what he saw big stars do. He’s actually creative and has a high wrestling IQ.
