It's passé apparently to say now but you have to remember that these are people suffering from a horrible mental illness that you shouldn't wish on anyone.
They have a decayed sense of self and deserve empathy and care, though I agree they shouldn't be catered to or given special credit, they deserve treatment like anyone suffering from mental illness.
