You're completely right in the difference in reception but it's not for the reasons you're wanting it to be. The guy clearly had his head up his ass in AEW and thought way too highly of himself. The center stage elevator entrance that only he could use. All of the attacks on Triple H and WWE. His bullshit entrance with an entire crew of people plus his fucking dog in matching outfits. He's been reeled in and it's been working great since. Gimmick, moves, promo, theme were never the issue. It was the guy behind all of that. There were shades of it going back to his time in NJPW. Sure it happened in AEW which the final line in any decision would be technically be Tony but just because it was bad doesn't mean it was completely and solely his doing as much as people want it to be
