That was the Rock setting himself up as a don't-give-a-fuck smartass.
What we saw on Smackdown was the Rock trying to be a bully. It's very different.
I think Bully Ray hit it on the head the other week: the WWE has no plan, has no idea where they're going, and have no idea how to get to anywhere good at this time and are just winging it.
Haitch has been co-booking for over a decade, he knows how to build the programme, but he's got a whole board of nobodies who have 0 experience with wrestling ordering him around.
The Hollywood bubble is way more aloof than the wrestling bubble.
They legitimately don't care if an actor isn't popular or is hated, because they'll just do positive PR on a talkshow and that's all they hear about and that's the end of it for them.
The casual fans have all left the WWE. The only people left are fans who are tuned in on Twitter as well, and caught all the hubbub about Rocketty's shitty movies being panned, and saw Rocketty use his Bray Wyatt eulogy to promote Black Adam.
The general consciousness of people is a bit higher now too, that does help.
