What happened to flippy shit?
I watched through some WCW and some early 2000s Smackdown and the cruiserweight stuff just looked so much better than today. Fast paced, snappy, and a lot more believable. Did the quality of lil niggas drop drastically or did HD cameras fuck up the illusion or something? Also that's Ultimo Dragon on the right for anyone asking

Interesting point. Off the top of my head, the only good high spot guys are from Booker T's school or trained by Shane Helms, but he is mostly an agent so only trains select cases.

As a result, their matches made more sense.
In lucha promotions however, it's all about getting your mysterious mystical superhero or supervillain character over in phenomenal ways and blowing people's minds with it.
Mexicans are easily impressed by this, as evidenced by the success of lucha in Mexico.
Americans however are not so impressed.

The main issue however is that today's audience is increasingly hispanic due to immigration and selective procreation.
Increasingly hispanic audience means increasingly hispanic entertainment, or entertainment that's supposed to cater to the hispanic audience anyway.
That means more lucha, and less pro wrestling.

Hardly any of these guys were flippy shit wrestlers though. They were just cruiserweights. Some had flippy moves like Kidman, Yang, Rey, Moore. But it was never done just to be done
