Mark is unironically a deprecated term that no longer applies in the modern era since everyone knows wrestling's fake, that said sometimes you can still get tricked into believing something is legitimate when it's a work (for example, people that think Rock vs Roman was going to happen and the later turn of events was a sudden course change)
I guess what counts as a mark now is someone that can suspend disbelief and just enjoy wrestling.

Mark was dumbass back in the day that believed it was real (or portions of it) and spent a lot of money. Wrestlers could see these guys a mile away walking up to the merch table with their velcro wallets.....hence they were marks.

Smark is a "smart" mark that knows it's fake but is still a paypig they can milk for cash easily. These guys are tribal and can still be worked in various ways but they think they're smart because they read dirt sheets.
