The video they had last week was fantastica and should've been the direction of the gimmick from the start. The problem is they did what usually happens with AEW gimmicks: start promising, no one there to actually manage it, it speedruns into flandarization, loses all steam, just keeps going until the talent get bored doing it or theyre forced to change.

There are a lot of ways to go with it but Toni lacks the vision to actually do it. For one it would be better if she didn't have a title and her obsession with fame and fortune drove her to try and get it any way she could. A delusional, psychotic, former (never?) Hollywood starlet heel. This of course helps babyface's get over and actually get something going in that dead division.

Unfortunately there are no writers and you can tell It's just Toni winging these unfunny bits the day of the shoot while Mariah May just kinda stands around with zero chemistry with Toni.

Read about the whole Timeless gimmick and actually decided to watch some footage of her matches, looks like a dimes gimmick on a fine woman to me. Weird thing to pick on given all the other completely barren talent they have on the roster, I guess it's overplayed at this point? Even then, focus on giving the other shitters something to work with instead of scrapping one of the few appealing characters you do have.

Now that Vince has lost his grip on WWE, and Triple H seems to actually care about fan response to things, Tony seems to be the one carrying on in Vince's tradition. It doesn't matter if a gimmick has clearly gotten stale, or if it consistently drives ratings down; if it pops TK, or otherwise strokes his ego, the gimmick stays.

AEW has had this problem for years. Heels can only temporarily get heat through cheap tactics like shitting on someone who's dead or le local sports team bad.

It doesn't help that babyfaces aren't allowed to have gimmicks in AEW, so the only thing that gets them over is having 'bangers'. Heels get cheers for character work because they're the only ones doing it.

Umm, sweaty, AEW is a mature promotion for adults so it doesn't do the whole 'face' and 'heel' type of storytelling that's usually targeted at children and manchildren, through it's stories it aims to represent the many shades of grey that is real life.

The real problem, especially with AEW and their demographic is no one wants real heels. The wrestlers are too pussy and needy with wanting to be liked by everyone to actually get real heat and the fans are either oversensitive fags on twitter that try to cancel everyone or douchebag smarks who think they know everything and try to be in on the jokes.

Jeff Jarrett managed to pull it off. The way he developed the story for Flair's Last Match was about as good as you can do it today. Notice that Jarrett used social media and stayed in kayfabe. Now compare that to how most wrestlers today openly expose the business regularly on social media and in interviews. Look at The Dwayne who turned heel and then immediately undercut the heel turn by explaining it on his Twitter.
