Why do the rankings even exist if the champion can give open challenges to random shitters who didn't earn a title shot? It invalidates the entire ranking system(not that it was valid anyway).

i have no problem with there being a kayfabe justification for wrestlers earning title shots but they should keep it simple
in aew they love making wrestlers go through gauntlets to face the champion so why not just say 3 wins in a row earns you a title shot
also there are like 3 different midcard singles belts with no gimmick which is stupid and confusing. at least turn one into an x division or never openweight type of thing
