>>13516273>KING'S ROADReally strange how in Japan "odo" means "king or royal road", and is used in the same way we would say in English "the easy way" or "the easy road", or even "the lazy way". In Japanese music, there is a common chord progression called "odo", the royal road progression, named because it's thought of as the easy chord progression for writing a song.
And so Japanese wrestling uses "odo" to mean that a style that's easy. There's no storylines or angles, so you don't really have to write anything, or plan anything out. And that means there's hardly any promos, since the plot is just "me choppa you, you droppa me". And that means the wrestling is "easy" too, because the moves are shoots, so you don't have to work hard to sell anything, because you're actually getting punched, you're actually getting slammed, you're actually in pain.
Only an ignorant fool would use "king's road" as a positive term. It's an admission that the Japanese suck at story-telling in wrestling.
