Omega-Jericho at WK12 was a barrier breaking crossover that planted the seeds for the idea.
Imo some people give Cody all of this credit for being "Mr. AEW" coming into All In and the early years but Omega's star was the gasoline that fueled that entire engine. The G1 Climax run, the Omega-Okada series, Omega-Jericho, etc. Kenny Omega for that span of 3 some odd years was the hottest wrestler on the planet. Whatever he was attached to around that time was going to seriously plus off of his star power.
If Omega was out of the equation in the formation of AEW and the first All In I almost feel like it wouldn't have happened.
Probably a combination of Vince's WWE being absolute dogshit around those years and simultaneously over in New Japan Omega, The Bullet Club and The Elite just completely exploded. Had their damn t-shirts selling out in Hot Topics all over the US, a country where their own fucking promotion wasn't even based in.
