>>13543094As a millennial wrestling fan I’m trying my hardest to recall anything of this sort but I can’t. Rock historically was one of the least selfish top stars of his time. When it was time to put someone over to help build them up he was always a willing participant. Same guy that was all for putting a young Brock Lesnar over making him the new youngest WWE champion at the time (Rock was previously so putting Brock over was passing the torch/letting Brock break his record) and kickstarting Lesnar’s career as an absolute force. Lest we forget Austin didn’t want to put Lesnar over so he literally just left and took his ball with him iirc. Put over Goldberg and The Hamburglar (The Hurricane) as well. Rock was always ready to do business as long as it was good and made sense. Considering he’s arguably the biggest generational megastar professional wrestling has ever produced as far as the impact and heights he’s reached on the planet Earth as a result of him being The Rock you’d think he’d have an uncontrollable ego but it’s just never been the case with him.
Rock and Austin combined have never come close to the level of egotism of Hulk Hogan. Are we just gonna forget how he almost single handedly (I say almost because other guys helped sink the boat but Hogan was probably the biggest offender) ruined/sunk WCW and what could’ve been the turning point of the WWF vs WCW in Staarcade because he didn’t want Sting to look stronger than him? I mean look Hogan should be on everyone’s Rushmore there’s no denying that for what he’s done for professional wrestling but as a employee of wrestling promotions the dude was a piece of work.
