>>13551313>an AEW version of that but with better graphics and fleshed out gameplay would have been kinoNah that's dumb. No one really cared about any wacky gimmicky WWE game, can't even imagine how much worse it would've went for AEW.
There's absolutely room for other wrestling titles in the gayming industry, it's just that the other companies consistently fuck it up. The thing with the WWE games is that, while they are definitely extremely fun, they are also very restrictive compared to some other games, including earlier WWE titles. Every game since SvR 2008 has largely been simcade, and even really leaned into simulation from 2K16 to 2K20, but there is clearly a market for games that lean into that arcadey aspect a lot more, take a look at how many people still adore HCTP and the MDickie wrestling games. AEW had a good shot to make a really fun, high budget alternative but they fucked it all up. I don't even like the program but I was quite excited for the game til the gameplay footage started dropping. If the promotion doesn't shit the bed and pull the plug and actually decides to make another game they have a pretty decent base to build upon and take all the criticism into consideration to make a pretty solid game.
