If you're watching the pre-RAW WWF and want a bit more than the PPVs, on youtube people made compilations of all the important TV matches and promos, search for wwf + year + month.
In typical Vince fashion, during this era he needed at least 3 separate TV shows that had nothing but WWF stars vs jobber matches.

Pro wrestling wasn't invented until the 1800s, he doesn't have to go back that far. He should be able to dig up some archived newspaper articles about 19th century carnivals, that's a good place to start.
