Ideally, I think Savage would have been the guy he should have kept. He could have had all those classic matches OP mentioned and still been a big name when Hulkster was fighting Dungeon of Dunces in Dubba See Dubba.

Piper was pretty much washed in the ring after his hip replacement. Sports medicine and wrestler wellness was much worse in the '90s than it is today.
