for some interesting context, back in the wcw days there was apparently some "magic number" for which WCW/turner would automatically settle out of court for if it was at or under that amount since it was cheaper to settle than go to court even if it was baseless. I forget the exact figure though

They did. This whole case stemmed from the fact WWE kept sabotaging MLW's TV deals. Even their long-term lawyer McDevitt left the case. Chances are this is everything they would have gotten and then some.
