He was always a walk over, but it just took the Punk debacle to really expose it. Now it's common place. Even more hilarious is that apparently Tony pays full wages, even if you are sitting at home and can't be bothered to come to work like Miro. So you don't even get docked. To be fair to Tony, when AEW started he didn't really have much of a choice. It would be increasingly hard to convince wrestlers to come to your promotion without some big perks. It's what happened to WCW back in the day, too.

But at this point the AEW roster is GOAT-ed. They have more than enough talent to know what to do with. There's really no sense in keeping these shitters unless Tony has to payout their entire contracts or something. But even then, guys like Miro, Malaki, Buddy, Ricky, etc bring nothing to the table anyway and they're bad for morale. Might as well just pay them out and let WWE have them.

I think the logic is probably that they don't want to set a precedent that you can act like a baby and instantly be granted your release. But like you said, a lot of these guys add absolutely nothing to the product so the fans would not at all miss them if they were gone.

They'd be better off just playing ball until their contract runs out. Tony knew Andrade wanted out and he didn't job him out because Andrade was professional about it outside of the Sammy incident.
