Jim is a broken, pathetic man who never truly had it, lost in his childhood fantasies of wanting to be like his movie heroes but never having enough guts to ever really stand up for himself, as it was seemingly beat out of him a long time ago. The man is a weak soul.
He's still one of the greatest commentators of all time, but he is a miserable human being in the pathetic sense. Maybe if there's a next life he can get a better chance.
