>>13661488Swerve shouldn’t be getting a run with the belt. The belt isn’t a reward. It’s a gimmick and if the belt is well cared for it’s a legitimizer. It is not in AEW. Swerve is getting over on his own. He just did a home invasion angle just a little bit ago but the fans want to cheer him. He does not need to get the strap, it’ll only damage him when his run is a disappointment. Feuding against top flight talent in a prominent place on the card will do far more for him. Shine the belt up with some long runs with people that are worthy of being world champ, then give someone a run with it who needs a belt gimmick.
Okada’s gimmick is guy with the belt. Jay White could have desperately used a belt angle. There’s just too many belts in AEW for one thing. They’ve all been handled poorly. The TV titles should be defended on every TV show with a 15 minute draw time limit. The international title should be defended against international wrestlers. The world title should not have someone like Adam Cole anywhere near it.
Everyone saw the finish of revolution coming a mile away. It should have been even more pronounced to complete a full double turn. Hangman should have cost Swerve the match several times and when he couldn’t out Joe away himself to keep Joe looking reasonably strong he should have shown the frustration more and just walked into the finisher and tapped immediately then popped up laughing, happy that he at least fucked swerve. Then finish with some sort of fucked up after the match attack.
But I digress. Swerve doesn’t need the belt but there’s guys who do. Build it up then put it on one of them. Stone Cold didn’t get his belt until a full year after the Brett match. I don’t trust Tony not to fuck everything up. Will Ospreay will somehow be wrestling nothing but Callis Senpai/United Empire guys for the next six months and then he’ll have a best of 12 trio’s series with the Best Friends.
