The criticisms and AEW's stagnation clearly bother him, but he's determined to do it his "own way" instead of the way wrestling promoters have been making money the last 50 years. -- I can admire people who quit drinking, but if I structure my entire life off winning the praises and following the guidance of AA denizens, I'm probably going to have a bad time.
Tony's the kind of guy who would feel a deep sense of shame at a Rock/Sacramento-tier performance for 25 minutes in the middle of Dynamite, even if it had 5000 fans on their feet cheering wildly and went over 1,000,000 viewers and record demo rating for the show. Why? Because that's not REAL WRESTLING. And Tony isn't spending all this money just to be called FAKE wrestling by a bunch of people who, for the rest of us at least, do not matter. Somehow doing Deathmatch bullshit counts as real wrestling, but This is Your Life, Piper's Pit doesn't. OK then. At least we're seeing more promo battles like recently with Joe/Hangman/Swerve and Jericho/Wardlow
People like me will continue to roast TK for his every failure while continuing to talk up the potential and how things COULD BE if he could just find a way to stop being so obstinate and quarrelsome. Doesn't even have to give up the book, but the show structures and time allowances just completely fucking suck most of the time. You can't cut 4 minutes off an undercard match so Sting can do his retirement speech on PPV?
