The AEW audience will be much more familiar with his work and history whereas most WWE fans will just be familiar mostly with the name.
WWE would have to establish him to build him which adds to the ROI calculation and there's a risk it doesn't work.
In AEW he's immediately a top star and a draw to their audience so the risk is less.
People are just worth different prices to different companies and that's fine and normal. It's why the Big Show was an important signing for early AEW in terms of helping bring on sponsors but not that useful for WWE.
It's just how business works. It's no slight against WWE or AEW or Okada.
