Because as someone else pointed out here, this modern devs can't fucking understand how ligthing and hair effects work, so these modern models always look off. Those ps2 era whily more blocky in some aspects end up looking more "real" because they had better lighting on the models

The whole game does look that good, what are you talking about? The crowd lighting and sweat effects and facial expressions and everything else was about 10 steps above what Yukes was doing. The gameplay was jank though yeah.
