Why don't wrestling promotions just use video replay to determine if someone cheated to win? It's 2024 and we still rely on the ref having eyes in the back of his head.

Three reasons:

1) That would limit the sorts of finishes that are possible.

2) If they look at replays during a match (which happens in other sports) it would force a pause in the match, break the pace, and ultimately harm it.

3) If they look at replays after the finish, that wouldn't make sense either since the moment the bell is rung, the match is over. So the match would need to be restarted. That would get old really quick, so it's best to save that for special circumstances (which do happen, but are rare so as not to burn out the reaction to a reverse decision).

It would set a bad precedent if decisions weren’t final in matches. Every match could just be politicked after the fact and there’d be no real stakes in a match if you knew the decision could just be reversed with a video replay.

They've done this before and it's always retarded. My favorite though:

There was an I Quit match with Swagger and Del Rio 10 years ago where they went to video replay to overturn the finish. It was fucking stupid cause why don't they do that for every match?
