We use to follow ROH religiously from stop to stop when it hit the mid west back in the good ol' days. It just so happened that there was promotion that ran out of a church with a show on a day we had nothing to do so we went.
We get there and everyone just stares at us like we did not belong there. We walked into the church and thinking if it's in a church it's in the basement, we decided to go downstairs. Nope. Wrestlers getting ready. So confused we went upstairs...
I shit you not, the ring was in the church. And the seats were facing the front of the church because... They started off with prayer and scripture.
Then we were told to turn our chairs around towards the ring and were treated to 2 matches. Those matches and and we are told to turn our chairs around towards the alter for, you guessed it, more scripture and a sermon. But not any sermon, a sermon directed at the 6 outsiders in the front row. It took everything we had not to bust out laughing.
It went like this the rest of the night. A couple matches, turn back towards the front. We made the best of it and had a lot of fun, but that was because of us. The show sucked and the sermon was boring.
